Aleksandar Kolarov´s brilliant second-half free-kick earned full three points for The Eagles in Group F of the 2018 FIFA World Cup
In the Group F opener Serbia secure 1-0 win over Costa Rica at Samara Arena attended by 41 thousand plus football fan from around the globe.
In a closely fought match, Costa Rica was more dominant at the beginning of the match however it was Serbia who controlled large parts of the first session.
The second half witnessed agiler Serbian on the field and hungry for the goal and nearly found the lead in the fifth minute of the second session when Milinkovic-Savic released the ball for Mitrivic who was one on one with Costa Rica custodian Navas who came up with a brilliant save to deny Mitirivic.
Six minutes later Aleksandar Kolarov took a stunning free-kick that dipped in the top right corner leaving Navas helpless.
Serbia maintains the momentum and kept the pressure on the pressure on Costa Rica defense line and missed a quite a few chances. However, the lead was maintained until the end and kick off their World Cup campaign in a winning note.
