Sikkim Aakraman Football Club has kicked off their Sikkim Football Association Premier Division Sikkim-League 2018 campaign with a victory over debutant Unicorn Football Club by a solitary goal in the neck-to-neck game played on Saturday at Paljor Stadium.
Either side adopted an attacking tactic from the start to take the lead in the match. however, it was Aakramna´s Tenzing Tsephel who scored in the 7th minute of the match to hand former champion the lead. In return, Unicorn FC players made some good attacks but failed to capitalize any of it and the first match ended with the same scoreline of 1-0.
The second half was eventful as both teams launched many attacks and counter-attacks but could not able to score any goal. Finally, Sikkim Aakraman FC secured the full 3 points in the league from this 1-0 victory. The referee also sent Surag Chettri of Unicorn FC off the field by showing the red card in the dying minutes of the second half.
The match was also stopped in several occasions by the referee due to low visibility because of the dense fog.
