A fine brace from Aaren Silva helped Goan FC scored a 4-0 win over Velsao SCC in the Goa Pro League match played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Tuesday.
Kingslee Fernandes and Kapil Hoble also got on to the score sheet.
Goan FC were without Princeton Rebello and Liston Colaco and coach fielded Serino and Ivan Costa, who made the best of the chance as the duo impressed on the field.
With this win, Goan FC has extended their lead at the top to 17 points from seven matches, followed by Dempo SC, who are in second position with 13 points from six matches. Velsao SCC are on eight position with four points from seven matches.
Both teams displayed a fighting spirit but only one goal separated the two teams in the first half as Kinglslee Fernandes scored the first after a smart lay off from Ivan Costa, gave the former a perfect room to shoot past the rival keeper.
In the second half, Goan FC took control of the game and scored three. Aaren Silva doubled the account in the opening quarter when he received a through pass from Irfan from the midfield and the former Sesa Academy player ran down the Velsao defence with ease before guiding his shot past the Velsao keeper.
Midway through the second half, Aaren Silva completed his brace when Kapil played in a perfect delivery from the wing and the striker headed in for the team´s third goal.
Once up by three, Goan FC commanded the play and scored their fourth through Kapil who broke the rival defence from the centre and netted the fourth for the young Gaurs.
