Amukta Pariwar ends their Siliguri Premier League campaign with a draw while Baghajatin are yet to confirm their berth for the finals...

The thrilling encounter of the Siliguri Premier League between Baghajatin AC and Amukta Priwar ended in 1-1 draw making the remaining league matches not less than semi final after todays SPL match at Sahid Nagar Ground.

Amukta Pariwar playing their last game of the league needed a win with better goal margin to keep their brink hope alive for the finals. They adopted attacking football and had their close call in the 6th minute from a counter attack. Nigerian striker Ederish took the ball from the left wing and played it to Bidur Chettri who played in for Rohan Tamang who failed to connect under immense pressure from the rival defenders.

At the end of first quarter, Samir Tamang went far a volley on Jeet Tamang long throw but failed to connect well. Three minutes later Edirish missed a chance to take the lead for Amukta off Rehman through ball.

Baghajatin AC was playing safe and more focused in not conceding any goal and their first real shot on target came in the 33rd minute when Sikkimese striker Ong Tshering Lepchapowerful shot from the edge curled out of the post.

Minutes before the half-time Amukta Pariwar keeper made a blunder to pull in the ball from outside of the box and Sanju Barman taking advantage of the situation snatched off from Ajay Nag to tap the ball into the empty net giving Baghajatiin AC 1-0 lead at the brink of half time.

Amukta looked desperate for the equalizer from the very start of the second session and earned a free kick in the process. Edrish took the shot from around 35 yards which was collected by Baghajatin keeper in his second attempt.

Ten minutes down to second half Ong Tshering goal was denied by Pranit who headed away from the ball that was going into the net.

At an hour mark, Jeet made a run at the wing and played to Edrish who fitted the ball in for Rohan who missed the first timer. Minutes later Jeet received a right-wing cross and attempted a back volley but failed to connect well. Jeet yet again received a similar cross and went in for a similar volley but this time he missed completely which otherwise would have been a goal of the tournament.

Amukta managed to hit the net through Edrish six minute before the regulation time and thus delayed Baghajatins chanced to enter into the finals for yet another match. Edrish was awarded the Man of the Match.

Amukta Pariwar is now out of the contest and Baghajatin AC with 11 points now have to play Kanchanjunga FC on 19th. The draw will give Baghajatin the final spot while the loss will make way for Kanchanjunga FC on better goal difference.
