Royal United Sikkim FC came back from a goal behind to book the semi final berth in Independence Day Football Tournament in Gangtok..

Royal United Sikkim Football Club has also secured its place in the semi-final round of the Independence Day Football Tournament for Chogyal Sir Tashi Namgyal Memorial Cup here at Paljor Stadium. In the last quarter-final match played today, Royal United Sikkim FC defeated Boys Club, Gangtok 3-1.

Both teams played an attacking with continuous attacks and counter-attacks. Rinchen Lepcha scored the lead for Boys Club in the 20th minute but soon Pelsang scored the equaliser for Royal United SFC in the 37th minute and in the next minute his teammate, Ong Tshering extended the lead of Royal United SFC to 2-1.

In the second half, Sanjay Chettri took the lead of Royal United SFC to 3-1 with his goal in the 52nd minute. Boys Club players played hard to bounce back into the match but could not able to capitalize some good chances.

With this 3-1 win, Royal United SFC became the last team to enter into the semi-final round of the tournament. Royal United SFC will take on the State Sports Academy in the second semi-final match on 13 August.

The first semi-final match will be played between the defending champion, ARC Shillong and Sikkim Aakraman Football Club on Saturday.
