2017 FIFA U17 World Cup second day round up
Three-time champions Brazil defeated Spain 2-1 after an early own goal in their opening match of Group D in the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Saturday.
Carlos Amadeu boys started the game in dominance as they enjoyed the ball possession at the midfield. Wesley Andrade netted in his own net early in the 5th minute however the three time champions remain focused to equalize in the 25th minute through Lincoln Dos Santos. Paulinho Filho gave samba boys 2-1 lead at the end of first session.
The score line remained unchanged rest of the second half handing heavyweights Brazil full point from the opener.
In another match Germany kicked off the campaign with 2-1 win over Costa Rica t the Fatorda Stadium, Goa.
Captain Jann-Fiete Arp and Noah Awuku scored one each for German in either half.
Andrés Gómez scored the equalizer for Costa Rica in the 60 minutes but failed to keep the momentum going.
Substitute Noah Awuku’s 89th minute strike put the German up front to take 2-1 lead and secured three points from the group opener.
Brazil will take on DPR Korea in the next match while Germany will face Iran next.
