Path Chakra move up to quarter final defeating Gokulam FC
Patha Chakra, Kolkata has outplayed Gokulam Football Club, Kerala by a solitary goal in the last pre quarter-final match of the ongoing 37th All India Governors International Football Tournament 2017 at Paljor Stadium on Sunday.
Both teams played neck-to-neck from the start but the first half ended goalless draw. The second half again was again full of attacks and counter-attacks but both teams failed to net any goal until Alex Whittemore scored a goal for Partha Chakra in the 55th minute. In return, Gokulam Football Club players played their hearts out but not able to score any goal till the end of the match.
With 1-0 victory, Partha Chakra has also secured its berth in the last eight of the tournament. Partha Chakra will take on Indian Army [Red] in the last quarter-final match on 12 October.
The first quarter-final match of the tournament will be played between Sikkim Himalayan Sporting Club and ONGC, Mumbai on Monday at 2:30 PM. ONGC Mumbai became the champion in year 2010 and 2014 of the tournament.
