Sikkim Governors Gold Cup: Mohun Bagan 1-0 Tibetan NSA
A goal in the added time by Ghanefo Anshumana Kramah has landed Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan AC into the semi-finals of the ongoing 37th All India Governors Gold Cup International Football Tournament 2017 here at Paljor Stadium.
Both the teams received a decent crowd support until the end of the match. Tibetan NSA players launched some good attacks on their opponents goalpost in the early minutes of the first half but were not able to net any goal. In return, Mohun Bagan also failed to convert some good opportunities in the first half. The closely played first half ended in a goalless draw.
Attacks and counter-attacks were continued from both sides again in the second half but not able to score any goal. The second half also seemed no different than the first until Ghanefo Anshumana Kramah broke the deadlock and scored the winning goal for Mohun Bagan in the additional three minutes time of the match.
With this low scoring win, nine times winners and two times runners-up of the tournament, Mohun Bagan AC has secured its berth in the semi-final round of the tournament. The last quarter-final match will be played between Indian Army [Red] and Partha Chakra on Thursday at 2:30 PM.
In a neck-to-neck battle in the third quarter-final match on Wednesday, Mohun Bagan has edged past Tibetan NSA by a solitary goal.
