FIFA U17 WC: England out beat Mexico 3-2 in a tight contest while France secured 2-1 win over Japan
England qualified for the next round of the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 after defeating Mexican 3-2 in a group F heavyweight battle at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Kolkata.
England were leading 1-0 at the break after a stunning free-kick from Rhian Brewster in the 39th minute of the game. England doubled the lead in the in the 48th minute through Philip Foden and seven minutes later Jadon Sancho triples the lead for English boys from the penalty spot, awarded after Carlos Robles unfortunate handling of the ball inside the box.
The match stats took a different turn after the 65th minute when Diego Lainez scored and found his brace in the 72nd minute to pull back forty thousand plus crowd back in their seats to enjoy the drama happening at the center stage.
However, the thirty minutes excitement could not yield the result for crowd favorites Mexico losing the game 3-2 and sending England to the round of 16 after two huge wins at the group stage.
In another match, Amine Gouiri scored twice to give France 2-1 victory over Japan in Group E encounter of FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017played at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati.
Amine Gouiri opened the score in the 13 minute with a powerful right-footer for France. Tournament top scorer, Gouiri added the second in the 71st minute.
Japan´s Taisei Miyashiro pulled back one through a penalty kick in the 73rd minute but was not enough to save Samurai Blue from the defeat.
Diego Lainez´s brace could not save Mexico against England while Amine Gouiri´s double pushed France to next round, English boys moves the round of 16 too.
