Mizoram Premier League: Chhinga Veng FC 2-1 Chanmari West FC
League leaders Chhinga Veng FC extended their lead at the top to 10 points after coming back a goal down to register a 2-1 victory against Chanmari FC.
Flying full-back R. Laldinliana proved to be the hero as he scored a double to all but ensure a place in the semi-finals for his team.
Knowing that a victory here would lift them out of the bottom and give them new hope for a semi-final place in an instant, Chanmari West FC started their newly imported Liberian frontman Benjamin Cooper.
While Chhinga Veng also debuted their three new signings midfielder Joy Mrong Kharraswai, Nigerian defender Lassi AdeyemiW and midfielder Dlawale Dlumide.
The I-Day champions were breached as early as the 7th minute when a freekick from Jacob Lalrawngbawla was nodded in by Lalengmawia.
Shell-schocked struggled to find their usual rhythm under the heavy downpour in the first quarter of the match but gradually began to grow into the game.
MS Dawngliana forced a save from Chanmari West FC keeper Hriata and they found their equaliser 3 minutes from halftime when a corner delivery from Lalchhuanpuia was met with a header from R. Laldinliana.
A back and forth action continued after the two teams were on level terms. H. Lalhlimpuia´s effort was saved by Chhinga Veng FC custodian Zothanmawia while MS Dawngliana struck the bar at the other end.
Chhinga Veng FC scored what would be their winning goal on the 68th minute after Lalkhawpuimawia´s effort was parried into the path of Laldinliana, and the right-back finisned with aplomb.
Lalmawizuala almost belted a late equaliser in stoppage time but his effort from range was just nudge over the top of the goal but Zothanmawia.
Two goal hero Laldinliana was named man of the match.
