In the Rakhal Chandra Banerjee Memorial Siliguri Night Football Tournament Vivekananda Club emerged as the champions beating Atharokhai Sarojini Sangha 2-0 in the final played at Kanchanjunga Stadium on Tuesday night.
Atharokhai dominated the ball possession from the very start of the game and kept Vivekananda Club busy defending most of the time. However, Vivekananda Club played a good counter in between and took the lead three minutes before the end of the first session through Sumit Oran.
Second half was no difference either as Atharokhai Sarojini Sangha continued their attacking football and worked hard to get the equalizer but Vivekananda defense and custodian Subhamn Deb Biswas stood tall in front of the post to deny Atharokhai attack.
Karan Rai sealed the deal for Vivekananda Club in the 90th minute.
Sumit Oran was adjudged the Man of the Match while Subhamn Deb Biswas was declared the Best Goalkeeper and The Most Promising Player.
Best Goal Award was given to Gopal Poddar from Food Cooperation of India.
Afjal Ansari of Vivekananda adjudged the Best Defender and the Player of the Tournament was Sona Sardar.
Summit Oran and Karan Ria scored in the finals minutes of each half to hand Vivekanada FC the night football championship title.
