On Monday afternoon Mohun Bagan´s star striker was released by club officially and bid farewell in presence of club officials and fans at club lawn.
Norde received the injury in his right knee during I-league clash against Churchill Brother in 10th December and featured only once against Neroca FC on 19th December 2017.
Norde was advised to undergo surgery and rehabilitation programme to be fit again after consultation with the orthopedic surgeon. Meanwhile, Haitian striker and club came to an agreement to end the contract for the rest of the season.
Sony went very emotional to watch the fans chanting “Sony, Sony” and while speaking to the crowd and media he said, “As soon as I am fit, I promise you guys that I will be back. The love I have got makes Mohun Bagan unique among all the clubs I have played in. I didn´t want to go but for the sake of my family, my career, I have to."
Speaking about the Sunday derby Norde said, “A derby is always 50-50 but yesterday, Mohun Bagan played like Manchester City or FC Barcelona. We could have scored six or seven goals…. If they play like this, they won´t need me.”
He is scheduled to fly to Buenos Aires for treatment of his right knee anterior cruciate ligament injury and will be out of action for the rest of this season.
Informing to crowd Mohun Bagan director Debasish Dutta said,"Norde will undergo a surgery on February 2 and complete his rehabilitation at Argentina club Boca Juniors."
