Chennaiyin FC defeated Bengaluru FC 2-3 in the Final of the 2017/18 season of the Indian Super League at the Sree Kanteerava stadium Bengaluru.
It was a well-contested match for both the teams, just what we would want to watch in the final. Skipper Sunil Chhetri gave an early lead to his team right in the 8th minute. Udanta Singh fired a brilliant cross from the right that saw the skipper flying in to score a perfect header that went past Chennaiyin Custodian Karanjit Singh giving a head-start to his team Bengaluru FC.
Chennaiyin FC still looked positive and found themselves the equalizer in the 17th minute through Mailson Alves. Chennaiyin FC earned a corner in the 17 minute. Nelson stepped in to take the corner that saw Mailson Alves rising high above everyone else inside the box before heading the ball home thus leveling the score.
Chennaiyin FC took the lead just before half-time. It was Mailson Alves once again who got his brace in the 45th minute. It was an exact replica of his first goal. Nelson once again fired a corner that met Mailson Alves who headed the ball home past Sandhu making it 1-2 for Chennaiyin FC before Half-time.
The third and the final goal for Chennaiyin FC came in the 67th minute through Raphael Augusto. Jeje did well to set up a brilliant ball for Raphael Augusto who fired a curler that landed into the bottom right corner of the net making it 1-3 in favor of Chennaiyin FC.
Miku Pulled back one for Home team Bengaluru FC in the added minutes. Udanta fired a brilliant cross from the right that curved perfectly for Miku to head the ball into the net but time was just not enough for Bengaluru FC to get back into the game.
Both the teams did well the entire season to reach the final but it was Chennaiyin FC who had the edge over Bengaluru FC in the Final thus becoming the champions of the 2017/18 season of the Indian Super League.
Chennaiyin FC becomes the ISL champions for the 2nd time defeating Bengaluru FC 2-3 in a well contested Final.
