In an entertaining sixteenth day clash of the Desun Siliguri Premier League, Madhur Milan Sangh secured 2-0 win over United Sikkim FC at Milan More Ground on Monday evening. This win hands Madhur Milan Sangha a place in the final four.
Madhur Milan Sangh proved their class today as they were dominant from the very start of the game. The champions nearly got the lead in the fourth minute when Sonam Lepcha drove in from the right flank before sending a wonderful cross that saw Dewasis Rai inside the box. Rai tries to collect it with his left foot but failed to hold the ball.
Five minutes later it was Ganesh Limboo who received a long ball, he further played it towards Sonam Lepcha at the right who rolled the ball in before placing a perfect cross inside the box for Dewasis but Sikkimese custodian did will well to come off the line and palm it away to thwart the danger.
Sikkimese side struggled with their passes and lacked coordination on the pitch.
Post the end of the first quarter Sonam missed a golden opportunity to end the deadlock when Ganesh Limbo´s shot from a distance it the post and rebounded. Sonam then tried to direct the ball towards the goal but failed.
Ganesh Limboo showed his brilliance when he scored two quick goals in two minutes. Five minutes before the break Sonam drove the ball from the left wing before firing a tight shot that was blocked by his marker and got deflected towards Ganesh who made some space before firing the ball to the back of the net giving Milan Sangh 1-0 lead.
Two minutes later Ganesh found his second to dismantle United Sikkim.
Cushioned at 2-0 lead at the start of the second half defending Champions adopted rather a defensive tactics that gave United Sikkim the space to play more aggressively to find the equalizer.
Sikkim had the chance to pull back one in the 57th minute when they earned a free kick at around 42-yard area. The free kick, though close, was not able to beat Milan Sangh goalkeeper who was brilliant in his position.
Sikkimese sides fought well in the second half and created moves but were not able to find the target that could have brought them back into the game.
With the win, Madhur Milan Sangh stays unmoved at the top of the Group A table with 10 points and two more games to go and technically qualifies for the knock out round.
ON the other hand, United Sikkim is struggling with 4 points from the equal number of games and has a gloomy hope for the knock out stages unless they win both their upcoming matches and Amuta Pariwar losses one of theirs.
A quick brace from Ganesh Limbo in the first half helps defending champions to secure all three points and qualify for the last four.
