In an entertaining match of the Desun Siliguri Premier League United Sikkim FC went down 1-0 in their last group encounter against Apex FC at Milan More Ground on Saturday evening.
Both the sides needing a win adopted an attacking football from the very start. They frequently tested each their rival backline. At half an hour mark Noyel Darjee had a golden chance to take score for Apex FC when he took the ball solo from the left but finishes it away from the post.
Two minutes later it was Sikkimese side who took on with the counter and Palsang´s header off a right wing cross just missed the cross bar which otherwise would have landed in the box.
Kalimpong side yet again had a golden chance to get the lead in the added minute. Ankus Pradhan ran deep from the right wing and played it to Manish Subba who failed to keep the ball within the target.
Palsang again went with a header in the following minute but missed out by inches. In the following minute Apex FC built on with their move from the left wing with Manish Subba rolling the ball before firing a lovely cross for Noyel Darjee who jumped to get a touch however Sikkimese keeper comes off the line to palm the ball away that fell for Rohan Tamang who tried to scoop it over the goalkeeper but failed.
Apex FC finally ended the dead lock in the 54th minute through Pranay Mukhia.
In the 65th minute Apex keeper made a wonderful save to deny United Sikkim the equalizer they were trying hard for.
Towards the end, United Sikkim kept the pressure mounting on Apex but Kalimpong side held on till the end to secure the all important three points.
With the win Apex FC keep themselves alive with 8 points from 6 games while Sikkim United FC ends their campaign with 4 points from 6 games. Apex will now be eagerly waiting for the upcoming Amukta Pariwar vs Maghur Milan Sangh match result.
Apex FC secured a narrow 1-0 victory over United Sikkim to keep their hope alive for Desun Siliguri Premier League play offs; Pranay Mukhia scored the sole goal.
