India starts off with their Intercontinental Cup campaign with a huge 5-0 win over Chinese Taipei. Skipper Sunil Chettri helped the Indian side take an early lead in the 14th minute when Jeje fed a quick through ball for the skipper who made no mistake in slotting it home.
The Chinese side missed an opportunity to equalize in the 30th minute when Chao-An fired a power-packed shot from a distance but defender Sandesh Jhingan did well to avert the incoming danger.
Once again Chhetri and Jeje combined well to fetch the second goal for their side. A quick through ball from Jeje once again saw Chhetri taking that final shot from a tight angle making it 2-0 for India in the 34th minute.
Udanta Singh scored the third goal for India in the 48th minute. Singh did well to get past his marker before releasing his shot past the keeper into the net. Sunil Chhetri got his hattrick in the 62nd minute with the help of a brilliant through ball from Thapa.
Finally, it was Pronay Halder who sealed the deal for India in the 78th minute. Halder took his shot from quite a distance making it 5-0 for India.
India will now lock horns with Kenya on 4th June.
