In the title decider fixture of 2018 Siliguri Super Division League played today between Vivekananda and Young Men´s Association, YMA edged past VNC to secure a comfortable 4-1 win today(28th June) afternoon at Kanchenjunga Stadium.
Siliguri Super Division League is one of the major local football league organized under the supervision of the Siliguri Mahakuma Krira Parishad at Kanchenjunga Stadium located at the heart of the city.
Young Men´s Association that got promotion this season after finishing top in the A division league last year and surprised all the football lovers in the city with just one loss out of 8 matches. They remain at the top of the league table with 21 points from 7 games.
Last year champions Vivekananda Club will finish the second with 19 points from 8 matches with one loss and 1 draw.
The league still have three fixture left to go with Mahananda SC facing Atharokhai SS and Baghajatin SC taking on SSB and ASS taking on SFU in the last fixture but none of the fixtures is any importance now as Young Men´s Association will remain unmoved from the top.
The winner will take Sudhir Maitra Memorial Trophy along with cash prize of Rs 50000/-(Fifty Thousand) while runners-up will take Rekha Maitra Memorial Trophy along with the cash prize of Rs. 25000/-(Twenty five Thousand).
A total of 9 teams fought to prove their kingship at Kanchenjunga Stadium. Name of the teams: Vivekananda Club(VNC), Mahananda Sporting Club(MSC), Siliguri Young Men´s Association(YMA), Suryanagar Friends Union)SFU), Baghajatin Athletic Club(BJAC), Sashastra Sima(SSB); Atharokhai Sarojini Sangha(ASS); Siliguri Ulca Club(SUC) and Deshbandhu Sporting Union(DSU).
With three more fixtures to go, Young Men´s Association will technically be crowned the champions of the 2018 Siliguri Super Division League, as the remaining matches are of no importance...
