Aizawl FC stuck firm at top, PIFA shows some improvement, Chanmari FC struggling with form...

The sixth round matches of the I-league 2nd Division witness PIFA Sports bettering in the field and Aizawl FC remains unbeaten at the top place with 18 point.


Aizawl FC came back from behind to beat United Sports Club 4-2 and remains unbeaten after 6th round of matches.


United Sports though took an early lead in the 13th minute through Rajon Burmon goal from the 12 yard spot and maintained the lead till the end of first half. But they could not hold the lead for long as in the second half as looked sharp and well coordinated team took no time to equalize from B. Zoramthara well calculated shot.


United Sports did well to held back Aizawl FC and own goal from Thomas Lalengkima gave United some hope but the composed Northeast team remain calm and the African Alfred K Jaryan and Justice Morgan made damage into United territory in 83rd  and 89th minute respectively thus keeping the top spot unmoved.


Mohammedan Sporting coming up after the one goal draw set back from their previous encounter with Chanmari FC well dominated the field against Mumbai side Kenker FC , who are yet to earn a point in the league, and demolished the Mumbai side 4-0.


Mohammedan Sporting  goal came in from Daniel Bidemi Ayeni (10), V. Khivi Zhimomi (20), Bijendra Rai(61) and Asim Biswas(89).


6th Round Standings


At the end of the third round Mohammedan Sporting were clueless like a drowning ship. The Kolkata side has to keep the form going for the second phase of the league if they really want to qualify for the next year I-league.

Mohammedan Sporting is now in 4th position with 11 points after 6 games.


PIFA Sport did well to got better in the field against third positioned Chanmari FC as the Mumbai side nearly got away with three points, but the injury minute penalty came a blessing to Chanmari FC to save them from losing three points.


Chanmari FC who is struggling with the form at the momentv took the lead in 8th minutes but PIFA equalized in the beginning of second half through Yarmepei Shangh.  Sandesh Gadkari then found the net in 58th minute giving the lead to Mumbai Side. Twenty minutes later Lalbiakhlua equalized and Pranay Daniell again gave PIFA Sport the needed lead in 82nd minute and it was hoping that PIFA will witness their ever historic win. But the added minute unfortunate penalty erased their hope and settled with 1 point.


In another sixth round match Hindustan FC held back Lonestar Kashmir FC to nil nil draw.  Kashmir side that are in the best of their form and also defeated Mohammedan Sporting in the second round match that boosted the team moral and since then have not lost any game. Hindustan however played well and kept Lonestar Kashmir back line busy defending and ultimately sharing a point each.


Kashmir side in now holds the second position after six games and 13 points.
