Nangkiew Irat ends their league stage matches of the Shillong Premier League 2018 with a 1-0 victory over Sawmer on Monday at SSA Stadium, Polo. The win takes them to provisional fourth place in the league standings.
Damehun Syih scored the lone goal in the 26th minute.
The defeat pushed Sawmer to the relegation zone and is destined to finish in the bottom two. They have 10 points from 11 games with one to play and no hope of getting out of avoiding the drop.
Nangkiew now have 12 points from 12 games, one point ahead of Meghalaya Police (11 games) and two ahead of Malki (10 games).
Sawmer needing the win to survive the relegation zone had the possession but could not make use of it, as they pulled off just a couple shots on target throughout the game.
The lone goal of the match came in the 82nd minute through Banpynkhrawnam Nongkhlaw header off a corner kick.
Nangkiew stays at fourth place, however, could slip off the place after tomorrow clash between Meghalaya Police and Shillong Lajong.
