In the Opening match of the Kurseong Super Division League organized by Kurseong Gorkha Hills Sports Association, all time favorite UKFC thrashed Ambootia United Sports Club 7-0 here at Chandmari Ground in Kurseong.
UKFC, one of the oldest professional club in town has won some major titles in the region had no difficulty in dealing with Ambootia United their local rival.
UKFC took no time to settle into the field and Pema Wangdi Lepcha gave them an early lead. The poor quality of the ground reduce the pace and overall quality of the game but that didn´t dither UKFC´s intention as they were three goals ahead at the end of first half. Prashant Gurung with a fine shot in the 35th minute and Bhupen Lama´s penalty shot in 40 minutes.
Ambootia United look nowhere in the pitch except for a couple close chances. Tshering Goley increased the lead in the 59th minute with a fine strike from inside the box. Prashant Gurung dented the AMSC backline with his brace in 65 minutes.
UKFC were in the rampage in the second half as they kept scoring in a quick interval and Prashant Gurung sealed the deal with his hat-trick in the added minute.
UKFC will take on Trishuli Sangh on 16th and Ambotia United will face Athletic Football Club on 17th May.
Kurseong Gorkha Hills Sports Association, one of the most active sports associations around the district have always had problems in organizing outdoor sporting events as they lack a proper playing field. The association, however, managed to get permission to use Chandmari Ground which belongs to the armed forces.
Speaking to Goalie365, secretary Nirmal Gurung expressed his satisfaction after the association were allowed to use the ground after 34 years and also confirmed that the members will leave no stones unturned to make the league a big success.
He added football fans and people around too are happy as they will witness´ their local boys playing in what they consider as their home ground.
