Manang Marshangdi Club [MMC], Nepal will take on Army [Red] in the finals of the 38th All India Governor´s Gold Cup International Football Tournament 2018 here at Paljor Stadium on Saturday. By exhibited a very good game in the second semi-final match today, MMC has registered a convincing 6-2 victory over an ISL Team, ATK Kolkata to secure its berth in the finals of the tournament.
Army is already in the finals of the tournament by defeated the home team Sikkim Aakraman Football Club by a lone goal in the first semi-final on Wednesday.
Today´s match has drawn almost stadium packed crowd of spectators who cheered up Nepal team throughout the match. In the presence of good home crowd support, Nepal team has made an attacking start. Anjan Bista scored an early lead for MMC in the 8th minute of the match. Young squad of ATK has also made some good attacks but could not able to breach the defence line of MMC.
While ATK players were putting their best efforts to equalise the game, Dona Thapa doubled the lead of MMC in the 43rd minute. However, SK Azaruddin decreased the goal margin by scoring a goal for ATK in the additional time of the first half.
With maximum possession of the ball in the second half, MMC players made continuous attacks on the Kolkata side. Dona Thapa scored his brace in the 55th minute and his teammate extended the lead to 4-1 in the 76th minute. Nepal striker, Dona Thapa scored his hattrick goal in the 84th minute and soon his teammate Sujal Shrestha extended the lead of MMC to 6-1 in the 88th minute.
Thomyo Shimray of ATK tried to console the team with his goal in the additional time of the match but it was not enough to stop MMC Nepal to enter into the finals of the tournament.
MMC Nepal will take on Army Red in the finals of the tournament on 03 November at 1:30 pm.
