Indian national team head coach Stephen Constantine has resigned after India failed to qualify for the second round of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup. India needing just a point to qualify for the next round went down 1-0 to Baharain after Jamal Rashid scored a late penalty to pull his team to the knock out stage.
In a post match conference Constantine said “I feel my cycle here is finished. I have left the players here in a much better place than when I arrived." This is the second time Constantine stepped down as Indian National coach. The first one coming way back in 2005.
India finished fourth in their group stage although Blue Tigers secured a comprehensive win against Thailand in their opening match.
In the last group match India needed a point against Baharain defended well but the last minute penalty goal from Jamal Rashed paved the wayout for the Blue Tigers from 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
