Tarun Khel Kudh Sang the new Independence Cup Champions
Tarun Khel Kudh Sang became the new champions of the 69th Independence Cup defeating Akraman FC Sikkim here at Mela Ground Kalimpong Yesterday.
In an exciting final clash Tarun Khel Kudh Sangh were the hot contenders to win the Cup as they without any surprise started off again with XI African Players.
However the game took a different turn when Akraman FC took the lead in 12 minutes. Tshepal Bhutia took a brilliant 40 yarder free kick, giving no room for Ambuka to react.
TKKS now desperate to find the equalizer planned their move and Bobo found it two minutes before the half time from a well calculated long ranger.
One all the the beginning of second half TKKS were more aggressive in this session as they kept attacking and Sikkims territory keeping the defending line busy and worrying.
Ten minutes to the second half Felix nearly increased the lead for TKKS but Akraman custodian’s brilliance denied Felix with an absolutely brilliant save much to the frustration of Felix who was left scratching his head out of dissapointment.
Sikkimese side created a couple good moves but was over shadowed by TKKS dominance in the second half as a flurry of attacks from Darjeeling side kept the Akraman FC players busy defending their fort and.
The match was then headed to tie breaker and Ambukas brilliance handed the victory to Tarun Khel Khud Sangh saving four spot kick out of five that was taken by Akraman .
