Kurseong Saheed Gold Cup: Share FC 1(3)-1(4) United FC
In the opening match of the Kurseong Saheed Gold Cup United FC Darjeeling beat Share FC Kalimpong 1(4)-1(3) in tie breaker on Sunday evening played at Chandmari Groud, Kurseong.
Amid the chilly weather of Kurseong the third 3rd Saheed Gold Cup kicked off today that witnessed locals presetting some cultural programme and school band displaying their performance.
The game picked up slowly as both the side took time to settle into in the field. United FC had their real close chance in the 14th minute of the game when Sasti Mahato clearance off the line falls for Victor Chettri whose shot fell nowhere near the empty target.
Five minutes later Manish Subba shot from the distance came off the cross bar much to the relief of Kalimpong side.
Darjeeling side dominated the first half with their ball possession and attack, while second half witnessed Kalimpong side keeping the ball possession.
Dewasis Rai broke the deadlock in 63rd minute when his shot for the distance sailed into the net past Arwin Singh. Three minutes later Victor Chettri first timer shot missed the post by inches.
However Share FC failed to keep the lead for long. Ganesh Limbo brilliant footwork after getting the ball at the left side of the box dodged a couple Share players and his shot took the deflection into the net.
Both sides tired hard to get the winning goal but failed to find the finishing touch. The match is then headed to tie-breaker for the decider.
United FC converted four out of five penalty shot taken while Share FC could only convert three from five shot taken.
