Darjeeling Hill Gorkha SPorts Association has revealed the fixture for the Centenary Herlihy Memorial Cup today in Darjeeling.
The Cup is weighed approximately 3500 grams is made up pure Silver and is one of the oldest football tournament in the region and the history is traced back to 1917 when Englishman Jack O´Mahogany donated the beautiful trophy in memory of his aunt Mrs. Herlihy who died in Darjeeling.
2nd Wiltshire Regiment was the first winner of the trophy in 1917 as per the record available and St. Joseph´s College has owned the trophy 15 times, a maximum by any teams but after 1981 St. Joseph has failed to register any win.
In the opening match of the 100th edition of Herlihy Memorial Challenge Cup United Rangbull FC and B.B.C at Labong Gorkha Stadium on 5th August.
100th episode of Herlihy Memorial Football Tournament will kick off at Gorkha Stadium Lebong, Darjeeling on 5th of August.
