In today´s final of the SAFF Women´s Championship, Team India started off well putting constant pressure on their rivals Bangladesh right from the start of the match, they had good possession over the ball that got ultimately paid off in the 12th minute through Dangmei Grace who made no mistake in firing the ball past the Bangladeshi custodian and into the net.
As the game moved on towards the first quarter of the match, India looked hungry for more goals. Dangmei Grace once again showed her brilliance as she played a brilliant ball for Bala Devi but the Bangladeshi keeper did well to stop Bala Devi from making her move.
Bangladesh, however, was able to find the equalizer in the 39th minute. Sirat Jahan Shopna received a brilliant ball right at the edge of the box, she drove further in before taking that final shot that saw Indian Goalie Aditi Chauhan stretch wide but was not wide enough to stop the ball from finding the net thus making it 1-1 before half-time.
India once again had a brilliant opportunity to take the led in the 52nd minute when a brilliant long pass from the middle found Dangmei grace who drove in a further right before feeding it for Kamala who loses the ball to her maker before she could make her move.
India finally got the lead over Bangladesh in the 62nd minute. Bala Devi was dangerously brought down inside the box by Shamsunnahar for which India was awarded a penalty by the referee. Sasmita Malik stepped in to take the shot and managed to beat the keeper making it 2-1 for India.
It did not take long for team India to get their third goal asin the 67th minute and this time it was Indumati went for a long-range shot that landed just ahead of Bangladeshi keeper who miss judged the landing and further ended up losing the ball into the net.
Bangladesh had a brilliant opportunity to get their 2nd goal in the 72nd minute when unmarked Sasmita Malik ran ahead with the ball before firing a tight shot right from the edge of the box that missed the crossbar by a mere margin.
India later earned few good opportunities to increase their lead but the Bangladeshi side held on well as the game ended 3-1 for India, thus becoming the SAFF champions for the 4th time.
